What a year it has been for London’s most iconic nightclub. This time last year, the international clubbing collective banded together to stop the permanent closure of the Farringdon club. After four months of legal battles, crowdfunding and petitions, the club reopened for business to the elation of ravers the world over. This weekend marks the club’s first birthday since reopening, and a total of 18 years in operation. A legendary feat in the challenging and ever changing landscape of UK clubland.
fabric have spared no expense on making their celebratory weekend the biggest ever with a 30-hour marathon of music from 11pm Saturday to 5am Monday morning. Get practicing your script for that Monday sickie call to the boss – “Food poisoning, dodgy chicken kiev, I won’t go into more details” – because you won’t want to miss a second.
The line-up is topped by fabric’s poster boy, Craig Richards, who has held his residency since the club opened back in 1999. Alongside him will be fabric’s other resident, Terry Francis. Joining them will be a roster of heavyweights who have been there throughout fabric’s history. The wizard himself Ricardo Villalobos will be in attendance, hopefully playing one of his fabled early morning extended sets. Additional minimal vibes will be brought by Raresh and Margaret Dygas. Add to this the techno weaponry of Blawan, the hypnotising Donato Dozzy, and selector extraordinaires; Ben UFO and Nicolas Lutz. I could keep going on….
See you front-left at 7am Sunday for a celebration of London’s flagship for electronic music. To 18 more years!
