Craig Richards to Open Exhibition with Drawings of Ricardo Villalobos, Ben UFO and Andrew Weatherall

Fabric resident DJ, and creative director of Houghton Festival, Craig Richards has announced a show exhibiting a key selection of original illustrations taken from his first art book – A Show of Heads, Inside and Out.

More known for his reputation as an internationally renowned selector, Richards studied for many years at both St Martins and the Royal College of Art. His aesthetic influence could be seen across the fields of the inaugural Houghton weekend with a number of his large abstract designs dotted around the site.

The book is a collection of his artistic impressions of the musicians and DJs that performed at Houghton back in August. There are hand drawn pieces for the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Ricardo Villalobos, Nicolas Jaar and Sonja Moonear. The images range in style from loose portraits to the completely abstract but all follow Richards’ graphic style.

The 88-page book was initially only available in a small first run at Houghton. To celebrate its further release, a selection of prints from the book will go on display at No 1 Poultry in the heart of the City, on the 8th, 9th, and 10th December. Entry is free, and copies of the book and individual prints will be on sale throughout the event.
